The 1937 Hindi biopic of the great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh is an intensely exciting account of his life that makes you wish you were in it. It was directed by Kamal Amrohi, who also wrote the screenplay under the pen name K. A. Abbas, and starred Pran in the title role, with Madan Puri as Lala Lajpat Rai and Nargis as Leelawati. This movie tells Bhagat Singh's story from when he is born until he dies fighting for India's independence from British rule in 1931 at the age of 27. It is a detailed account of his life and the times in which he lived. This is when Bhagat Singh starts discussing about nationalism with Madan Mohan Malaviya. One day he gets arrested along with Rajguru. Three years later, the police set them free. The movie however shows that Bhagat Singh was not allowed to return to his home because of his relationship with Madan Mohan Malaviya. This is when the movie takes a positive turn, when Bhagat Singh goes back to Almora. He tells Anand Prasad that he would be happy if he could stay in his home again, but he does not allow this because of his son's respect towards him. After, Bhagat Singh starts working at Durga Brass Factory in 1958 where the owner and head of factory is Lal Bihari (Pran). Lal Bihari gives job to Bhagat Singh because of his commitment towards Indian freedom. After some time, Bhagat Singh gets arrested along with Rajguru again. The movie ends with the words "Time will tell". The film "The Legend of Bhagat Singh" was directed by Ramanand Sagar, starring Pran, Madan Puri and Leela Chitnis in the lead roles. It was produced under music director Salil Chaudhary's title "Shri Morarji Desai Production". It was released in 1952.
